“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back– Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe~
I’m reminded of the quote above often. It’s one of my all time profoundly true favorites quotes and I reflect on it often. As today draws slowly to a close some of my actions earlier today were bold in certain ways. I’ve also found that sometimes starting out on a regular healthy eating plan can be bold too and requires commitment. THE RESULTS ARE SO REWARDING.
Today I embarked on a new journey with a commitment to a new business coach in Red Deer, Alberta assisting me with a venture. I am so grateful for a chat along the way with an inspiring friend whose integrity gave me some valuable insights. The road trip was 3 hours total worth of driving (I think amazing how time flies with great conversation) plus 2 hours of meeting time. Today I also made a commitment to myself that I would begin to become strict with my own diet and exercise régime starting NOW.
Just like everyone else who yearns for spring time to begin, I’m also preparing to shed the blahs of my winter weight. I’m definitely not out of shape (in fact in many ways I can do things I could never do before with my current fitness levels). Every year in December though, just like many people, I don’t pay attention so much to what I eat. And of course as the holidays approach I’m not training as hard as I would normally. SURPRISE …… I gain weight(not really)! Not that I am ever out of control or binge eating. If you know my story or if knew me 3.5 years ago know I had this problem before my own personal permanent transformation. Starting today I consciously start to watch the times I eat and the regularity of my eating patterns.
Today’s meals: 6 whole wheat tortilla wraps( with poached chicken, Alfalfa sprouts, and baby corn), Clementine oranges, and a 2 pound bag of carrots.
Each wrap is a filling, low calorie, nutritious meal. I try to eat my wraps every 2 – 3 hours regardless of where I am and what I am doing. Having this package available insures that I will never be hungry as I go through my day. I keep my blood sugars in check by eating every 2-3 hours I also maintain a higher level of energy. I also don’t get the road trip munchies which are usually deadly for me. Meals delayed too long leads me to over consumption of calories later on at some road side diner or picking up a not-good-for-me snack at a gas station somewhere.
Personally when I start eating right daily I start by focusing on regular eating instead of getting my calorie intake down to the last gram. For me the process of training my body to get used to eating frequently fascinates me. Amazingly when I am eating properly my body becomes like an alarm clock that goes off every 2 ½ hours reminding me it’s time to eat (try this for yourself).
